In outlook the tracking tab is not visible - why?

I have sent a message to several recipients requesting a delivery and a read
receipt. I cannot see a tracking tab in the sent message. Why is this?

You must first receive a returned receipt before the tracking tab will
appear.

Thank you - the tab has now appeared but it only shows 1 receipt when in fact
I have received 45. Why is this?

I don't know the answer to this because I never use that Outlook feature.
