In FrontPage, how do I create sublinks that appear when I hover o.

G

Guest

I am starting a web site from scratch. One the left side of the home page I
have a links menu. Some examples of links are "History", "About Us" and
"Activities". How do I configure the "History" link so that when someone
hovers over the link a submenu appears with, for example "History of the
Chapter", and "History of the National Chapter"? A good example of this is
on the Southern Miss Athletics Page. (Please go to Southernmiss.com) Hover
over the "Men's Sports" link, and you see that a submenu appears with more
specific options such as "Football", "Basketball" and "Baseball", to name a
few.

How do I set that up in Microsoft FrontPage 2002?

Thanks,

Christian

Right-click the hyperlink, choose Hyperlink Properties,
click the Screen Tip button, and type the text you want.

I created a Hyperlink More Smiles and did what you said
on the following web page.
http://www.familydentcare.com/Cosmetic Dentistry.html

I was wanting to have a list of pages ( hyperlinks ) to
several different pages. When I hover over More Smiles, I
get what I wronte "what", but I don't know how to make a
hyperlind out of it or add to the list ( sub menu )or
Navigation node or what ever you call this.

Thanks

Thanks, You have identified what I would like.DHTML
menus. I went to the web sites you gave. They do describe
how to develop this in FP 2003. Very difficult for me. I
have FP 2002, so I guess there is nothing that can be
done to develope the drop down menus. Are there any add
on products that might accomplish this? Even if I buy FP
2003, It would be very difficult for me to accomplish
this.

Chriustian,

Typical of all the professionasl who claim to know things. They all suffer
from one probles,, they do not read! Each answer offered to you is wrong and
neither one addresses your question. In particular, Jim Buyens. How can
people be so stupid?

What you want to do can be done with 2002 and all otehr versions

Read the help file in any front page, for Menus and you will find an answer
in English. The use a blank page to test it until you get it right. Its
almost like making a menu with bullets, and when you make sub bullets, they
become the apearing menus.

Rob,

Can your provide specific steps on how to create DHTML menus directly in FP2002 or prior, since
there is no built-in function to do so, which is what Christian is referring to

OK, I admit I skipped over the word "submenu" in the original posting.
Sorry.

As to creating DHTML menus in FrontPage 2002, however, this is *not* a
built-in feature. You would have to program all the JavaScript
yourself, in HTML view, and this is even more difficult than using the
Behaviors and Layers features in FP2003.

The best choice, therefore, is probably to search for a third-party
DHTML menu builder, as Tom Rowe has suggested. Specifically, in your
IE address bar, type

Hardly awesome. Guarateed to let SE's bypass your site (unless you know how
to feed them an alternate site-map link), be surly to update, and encumber
your page with heavy (did I say heavy?) javascript. On the other hand, if
you have no alternatives, then....

Don

The Awesome part is you don't need to know anything about scripting... (and
I don't know that much) On my site I just use text links but have been
"looking" (PUN) into CSS menus. (Kind of the same as Text) Haven't figured
out the fly-out part... Ha hahaha

But, I just downloaded the trial of xFx DHTML Menu Builder 4.9 and I have
to say it IS worth the extra bucks!
