Improving boot and shutdown times on a superfast laptop

Vista Business, Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM plus 4GB
ReadyBoost. It's the Sony SZ with the hybrid (flash plus
spindle) drive, and apparently Vista has learned a lot
about how I use the system. This installation is rock
solid and has my confidence - I have yet to see a crash.

Speedy ON-OFF is important to me as this unit goes back
and forth to the office and is a desktop replacement at
each end, and it travels a lot to other offices as well.

After some experimenting, it will reliably SLEEP in 6-7
seconds, and AWAKEN in 4-5 seconds. SHUTDOWN takes
longer at 20 seconds, and BOOT is a problem at well over
a minute.

What can I do to improve BOOT time?

If Vista boots in 60-90 seconds, I think that is the best you can do, unless
you have preinstalled crapware that can be removed.
