Importing .txt files

Have just had Access 2003 re-installed and there's problems with importing
data.
Go to New, Import Table, Select my data, delimited, next, in a new table,
changed the first column name and data type. Click on the next column,
change the name - but it changes the name in Field 1 and leaves field 2 in
tact. Have gone to other users in the business and they are all having the
same problem when importing .txt files (all different data). Any ideas ?

IIRC this was an issue with the original release of Access 2003 and
was fixed by a service pack. Did the re-installation include
re-installing Office 2003 Service Pack 2?
