Importing .pst file Error "one or more parameter values are not va

I am trying to import an outlook .pst file created with Outlook 98 or outlook
2000 into Outlook 2003. I run the inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) on the
target file first, it fixes a few things and then I try to import the file
into Outlook 2003.

The import fails with the dialog box saying "could not complete the
operation one or more parameter values are not valid"

The .pst file is approx 200mb. My thinking is that if the file were corrupt,
the process would fail at the scanpst step.

All I want to do is open my file and read some emails.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can achieve this?

Please advise.

Thanks

Don't import then if you are only going to read some items; use File->
Open-> Outlook Data File...
