Importing Messages from OE5.x on Old Computer to O2003 on New Comp

I have Outlook Express 5.5 with about 2500 messages on an old Win95 computer,
and Outlook 2003 on a new one with XP Media Center. A Message Export on
OE5.5 prompts for a Profile with Microsoft Outlook in the dropdown, but ends
up with an error message "Your default MAPI store could not be opened."
Outlook is not installed on the old computer. Is there a way to export
messages to a file that I can copy to the new computer and import to Outlook
2003?

Configure OE6.0 with the OE5.x dbx-files on the MCE computer. From there use
Export to export to Office Outlook.

Got the files copied over. With full Outlook installed on the new PC, didn't
realize that OE was there also. One anomoly: All folders (including Inbox,
Sent Items, Deleted Items, etc.) appear under a Personal Folder. Inbox still
receives incoming messages OK, but can this arrangement cause any strangeness
later?

Thanks, Bob.

Outlook and Outlook Express are completely separate products. OE isn't a
"light" version of Outlook; it's just different.

I'm not sure what your issue is here; do you see two separate folder sets?
You can select your default delivery location in your account settings.
