importing folders, contacts, ect after a sys restore?

Ok, as much as I hated to do it, I had to do a system restore on my HP
Pavillion. After having the Motherboard replaced & both fans, pc still had
major issues which tech support (company the extended waranty uses, not HP)
decreed that a sys restore could fix it. Basically not wanting to do
anything else until I could rule out a registry glitch or other software
problem. I backed up the email using the back up and restore function.

So now I am ready to use win mail and the back up doesn't work. I opened
back up and restore, advanced restore, selected my device that has the back
up, in my case a removable HP media drive. Backup and restore says there are
no updates there, but allows me to select folders to back up, but I can't see
them.

Now when I open windows explorer and look in the media drive, I can see
Thompson-pc, and inside are the back up files, yet backup and restore won't
see them.

I have also saved the individual files, Contacts, folders, accounts etc...
independantly on the hard drive, but dragging, dropping and copying them over
into the the empty counterparts, like c\:programs\windows mail, in my C
drive doesn't do it either. They are there, but when I bring up Win Mail it
is empty waiting for me to in put my data.

How can I get my information back into Windows mail? Is there a way to drag
and drop these files and get Win mail to recognize them? I've tried to use
the import function in Windows, but none of the file formats the give me to
choose from work in finding the files. Are these files recoverable, or is
this a lost cause all around.

Appreciate any help here.

Thanks

Oops, that should read sys recovery, not restore. Back to factory condition,
which is why files need replaced. Sorry, obviously not enough caffine yet
today.

Just create a new folder in WinMail and open it so it shows an empty message
list. Then open a directory of eml files and select them all (make sure its
only eml files that are selected) and drag them overtop the message list and
drop them and they will be incorporated into the folder. My OEX program
will do this also with a single button click (www.oehelp.com/OEX/) . See
also www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background info.
