Importing contacts with Norwegian characters in text into Vista Ma

As at least some know we have a couple interesting characters in Norwegian
(similar in Danish): Æ, Ø, Å (here in capitals). When trying to import
contacts (in this case from Google Mail) as CSV or VCF i only get garbage for
these letters.

Is there a work-around or a trick whereby I can trick VISTA MAIL to use
these characters?
