Importing contact list from Excel

I want to import an Excel sheet with contacts into Outlook 2003 contacts. The
import goes half way through and I get an error message:

An error occurred while importing / exporting and the import / export was
terminated.
MAPI error 0X80070057was reported. Please import / export again later.

This problem existed when I was using Outlook XP. I migrated to Outlook 2003
and the problem persists.

99.9% of the time this error indicates some error in your Excel file (data
etc).

Things you should do/try:

#1 - Save your worksheet as a .CSV file and see if the error recurs - if it
does, check to see that the file "appears" to be intact from start to
finish. If it is - then you have a "data" issue
#2 - Check the last contact that got successfully imported and find it in
your Excel worksheet - good chance you'll find the error in the record
immediately following this contact
