Import Text Wizard returns ? instead of +12345

Gidday all.

I'm using the Import Text Wizard to import a text file with Access 2000.
This particular file has data that is preceeded by either + or a - sign. I
have no control over what is in the text file. The issue is this; as I'm
importing the text file any data that is preceeded by a + sign shows up in my
wizard as ? Not a ? and the digits, just a ?

For fun; try using the wizard to import this: 123547+2354-54654 My wizard
shows me 123547?54654 So it is replacing the +2354- with a ? anybody know why
and how to fix it?

If there is only a + or only a -, it shows up fine, but when they are both
in the equation the ? shows

Try changing the code page (click 'Advanced' in the wizard) to any of these:
Unicode (UTF-8), US-ASCII, or Western European (DOS).

I tried each of these and they have eliminated the ?, but now I'm getting the
odd sqaure symbol, so it's still not quite right. Thank you
