Import pst files=access denied

I

Iain

After exporting my personal (pst) file from Outlook 2000
and copying to cd, I attempted to import the file into
Outlook 2003 on my new pc. The message "Access denied.
You do not have the permission required to access the
file xxxxx.pst"
Why not? All I want to do is have all my emails,
calendar, tasks etc. on my new pc! Help.

Just a guess - you need to copy the pst file from the CD to your hard drive
(put it on your desktop - you'll not lose it there). The file on your
desktop will probably be "read only" which cannot be used to import. You'll
have to change this property.

There are several applications that will clear the "Read Only" property. I
like "Clear Read Only Attribute", sometimes called "CROA", written by David
Crowell. You can download this freeware at http://www.davidcrowell.com .

Save the PST to your computer somewhere and then
Right click on the saved file to bring up the properties.
and remove the "Read Only" property attribute.
