Import problems

Rick Campbell

I have to change the entries in a field for several hundred records. I
export to Excel, make the changes, then import back. The problem is I have
File As set for First Name, Last Name, and when I import the records back,
they get changed to Last Name, First Name. Can anyone suggest how to get
around this?

TIA

Rick

This is easily done in Outlook.

Change one record to the new value, group by that field, then drag all other
records you wish to change to the group.

Example: I assume you're doing this in Contacts as you mention the file as
field....

Dept of Defense needs to be changed to Department of Defence.

I change one entry of the Company field, I group by Company and drag all the
Contacts in Dept of Defense group to the Department of Defence group. Done.

Judy,

Thank you for your reply, but I think you misunderstood my problem. I group
on file as for merge purposes. Each file as is different: John Smith, Ray
Allen, etc.... After I import them back into Outlook, after making the
changes I need on another field, the file as field order is now Smith, John;
Allen, Ray; etc.... Which thoroughly bungles my merge.
