Import Lost AutoNumber

Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

For some reason, by DB messed up and I coudn't copy or paste any records.
For some reason the DB thought it was read only, even though it was not. I
had split my DB into front and back ends, So I exported all the tables each
to their own Excel file, then created a blank DB and imported all the data.
Now it works fine..... except now my AutoNumber is gone. I would like to use
the field that used to be the AutoNumber because I have linked tables 1 to
many where that number is key. If I make a new AutoNumber, I'll lose the
data that is the same in both tables.

How do I fix this? I tried making the field that is set to Number with
Indexed = Yes No Duplicates to AutoNumber, but Access won't let me.

Thanks again,

Brad

I just found a site that said if you make the table with the setting of
AutoNumber and then use an Append query, Access will let you pates existing
numbers into the AutoNumber field, thus keeping the relationships in tact. I
just tried it and it worked.
