Import into Outlook 2000

Recently I changed hard drives and have saved my old Outlook 2000 .pst file
into the same folder where the current .pst file resides in the new hard
drive. When I use Import or Open Personal Folders File (.pst) I receive the
message "Properties for this information service must be defined prior to
use." The properties for the old .pst file is NOT set to read only. Please
help!

Importing a .pst file is never the proper method for migrating your Outlook data from one drive/computer to another.

Simply copy the .pst and then open it using File->Open->Personal Folders File. You have probably corrupted the .pst file by overwriting what was in the directory.

If you still have the old hard drive and a copy of the .pst file, copy it to My Documents and rename the .pst file that Outlook is currently using. Open Outlook and when it complains, point it to My Documents for the .pst file to use.
