Import ics file to shared calendar

I use both my mailbox calendar and a shared calendar,
and I want to import a calendar event to the shared calendar,
however when I select the .ics file it always goes into my personal
calendar.
How can I configure outlook to save it in the shared one.
(XP and Office 2003 - and I do have write access to the shared cal)

This is a single-item .ics file? Instead of Save and Close, choose File | Move to FOlder.

I am not given that option
I select File, Import and Export
This starts the Import and Export Wizard
I choose Import from an iCalendar or vCalendar file
This starts a file browse window
When I have selected my .ics file the only option is "open"
When I click it, the window closes
and the entry is put into my calendar.

That's why asked the question you haven't answered yet: Is this a single-item .ics file? The method I suggested is relevant only to that scenario.

If you're importing a multi-item .ics file, the items will go into your default Calendar folder only. You'll have to move them to the other mailbox.

I am not given that option

Double-click the ICS file in Windows Explorer. When it opens, see if you
can choose File>Move to Folder.

Yes, this is a single item ics file
I have been able to double-click on the file in explorer,
and do the "move to folder" ok
I also tried a multi-item file,
but outlook only processed the first item.
I am only at the "proof-of-concept" stage,
as I am looking into loading multiple single-item files,
using either an outlook macro or vbscript.

That's normal and expected in versions earlier than Outlook 2007.
