IMAP sent messages and Exchange

I have an Outlook profile with 2 accounts, Exchange and IMAP. I understand
that a copy of sent IMAP messages are kept in the local .pst. However, do you
know if a copy of the sent IMAP message is also sent to the Exchange server?
Is any information sent to Exchange if I send a message from an IMAP account.
FYI, I am not using Exchange as the SMTP server in my IMAP account.

If the Exchange mailbox -- and not a .pst file -- is your default
information store, then items sent using the IMAP account are stored in the
Exchange mailbox's Sent Items folder.
