images disappear intermittantly

My presentation on my laptop works flawlessly.

When I connect my laptop to an overhead projector, sometimes the images
don't appear as I change the slides, and am forced to go back a slide
and then forward a slide to cause the images to appear. This behavior
is intemittant, and does not occur necessarily on the same slides.

I am using:
windows xp
powerpoint xp
hardware accelerator: none

Any ideas?

This is most likely a hardware issue, related to your graphics card.
What is the graphics chip on the laptop?
How much ram is on the graphics chip, or is it a shared memory system?
If it does have dedicated ram, you should turn on hardware acceleration.
Are you running in Mirror or Extended desktop mode?
How big is the presentation?
Are the images causing problems optimized (click on an image and click the
'reset' button, do they blow up huge?)?
Go to the graphics driver and make sure it is up-to-date.

nvidia nv17 (32mb)
system ram (512mb)
i dont think that I am in mirror or extended desktop mode...but, I'm
not sure what these modes are :{
the presentation is 8mb......when I use pack n go, the file reduces to
5 mb
if i hit the reset button, the images don't blow up huge, but they show
areas that have been cropped.
graphics card is up to date.
