Image and Download "Problem"

Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on these 2
problems.

A few months ago, I got that dreaded virus that shuts down your
computer (though I don't recall the name of it off-hand) and had to
reformat. I downloaded all the suggested items and everything is
working fine now...except this. I like to play games at pogo.com and
since I had the virus, I've been unable to play since the game images
don't show up. This isn't a major concern as there are plenty of game
sites out there but I've also experienced problems with seeing images
on normal webpages. I just get the little red X in the upper lefthand
corner and yes, I have clicked on "show picture". I thought it was
java and tried to remedy this by installing Java from sun.com but this
hasn't worked.

Also, something weird happens when I try to download various items.
The system automatically opens the files and now I have to right-click
"Save Target As". Is there any way I can fix this?

I'm really hoping someone can help with all of this!

What you may want to check is the security level of IE in your tools menu. I
would drop them all down and see if that helps. Once you do this you can
then start raising the security level up again.
