I can't adjust my security setting in Internet Explorer.
Using Internet Explore, when I click tools/Internet options/Security ...
the program crashes with a dialog box that says, "This program has performed
an illegal operation and will be shut down." When I click detals I get this,
"IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault
in module MACXW4.DRV at 000b:000000cd.

Mr. Saunders,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my dilemma. I haven’t had time to
try all the things you suggest. I can tell you that when I try to run Spybot
S & D it crashes the same way Explorer does when I click on the security tab.
When I run Ad-Aware, it scans fine but when I try to proceed to the next step
it also crashes with the same notice, “This program has performed an illegal
operation and will be shut down.†If I don’t run the scan and just click
“Tweak†it crashes.

I purchased PC Doctor and ran the scan it supposedly repaired problems I
didn’t know I had but it did not fix the crashing issue. I does report that I
am missing some Registry Files, but can’t seem to repair them. I
reinstalled my operating system Windows 98 SE and that didn’t help either.

I ran HijackThis from an older version I had and it came back with nothing
checked.
I downloaded the newer version and when I tried to unzip it I got a notice
indicating that Morpheous (may be spelled wrong, I’m not at home with my
notes but it wasn’t the music share ware site, although it was spelled
similar) was needed to unzip the program and it couldn’t find it so I’m not
able to get an up to date scan from HijackThis. Other then that, the computer
runs fine.

I will attempt to install and run CWShredder this evening and see what
happens.
Thanks again,
Gary

Mr. Saunders,

Where do you suggest I start looking? Are they available on-line? Is there
usually a charge?

They're almost always online and free. Start with the manufacturer of your
computer and then the video board manufacturer.
