IIS & XP Pro SP2

after I installed SP2 IIS stopped working. It doesn't show up in the
Administrative Tools folder, MMC won't recognize it as a function, and it
doesn't start automatically or show in Services.

I have (add/remove software) removed IIS, rebooted, and (add/remove IIS)
added it back. Still, it will not start with MMC and doesn't show in Admin.
Tools or Services. I guess I'll remove it again and look for regedits to
make. Any ideas?

I'd check whether the firewall has the web server service opened
in advanced settings for the respective connection.

Hmm, have any services been changed from their default settings
to some other start setting? That's a frequent cause for such
problems.
