IIS install

I can't see an icon for IIS in Control Panel or in MMC. I tried installing
IIS with no results.

In add/remove components, hard to tell if i am installing or removing - no
wizard pops up but the IIS files seem to be in Windows\system32.

If I try to run iisreset, I get the message "Class not registered." however
the file is present.

Don't know how IIS got clobbered. How do I get out of this mess?

(Using VB2003, Front Page 2000 for web applications. They used to work. Now
I get the infamous "Visual Studio .NET cannot create or open the application
because no web server was detected at this URL
'http://localhost/genealogyweb'. Make sure the Web server is installed and
running.")

Thanks

Bromberg's command seemed to run but no confirming message.
I then tries iisreset /start and got:

"Start attempt failed
The specified service does not exist as an installed service. ...." and a
bunch of numbers.

May be uninstalling (unchecking the IIS checkbox) and reinstalling it will
reinstate the missing IIS service(s)?
