Is there a reason you went for IE7 and not IE8.? are you running Internet
Explorer using the icon at the top of the start menu.?

I used to run IE7 and now run IE8 with Windows XP. I've not had more the
usual gripes about either. I run IE8 from at least two desktop shortcuts
(depends on which page I want it to open first.)

Why don't you open Internet Explorer from an icon in the Quick Launch
Tray?

I prefer to use shortcuts on the desktop because, as I said, I like to
open IE with different home pages tho my default page is a blank screen.
My keyboard also has a key to open that. Since I have a mouse key
programmed to double click, using shortcuts is pretty fast.

I don't get "Internet explorer is currently running with add-ons
disabled."

I have an option in Start, Programs< Accessories, System Tools to
launch IE (No Add ons).

The properties look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

This is provided so if IE starts to misbehave, you can run it with no
add ons on purpose to see if perhaps a recently installed add on is
your problem. It is not the default (or shouldn't be).

If you run IE from any of your various methods and get a message
saying add ons are disabled, your shortcut is wrong, so fix it to not
include the -extoff option. It is generally a troubleshooting option.

If I run "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff
from my Start button..., I do get a message like that, so check your
shortcuts and adjust accordingly

To test further, go to Start, Run and enter iexplore.exe, click OK and
see what happens. That is no options, right?

Maybe your shortcuts are doing the sucking and not so much IE7 ;).
