IE7 protected mode issue

I created an html page that I set as my homepage, set up with hyperlinks, to
allow quick access to my most frequently visited websites. The page resides
locally on my PC. With Vista / IE7, this page comes up as "Protected Mode
Off", which means clicking on any of the hyperlinks will open in another
instance of IE7.

Is there any way I can get IE7 to see this page as "Protected Mode On" so
the hyperlinks will open in the same window? I know I could disable
"Protected Mode" for the internet zone, but that would defeat the security
features.
