IE7 in Vista - HTTP 403 error

Scott

Hi, I have just installed Vista and managed to connect to the net with my
ADSL acct.
I found that my setup cd from my ISP wont work with vista. Rang my ISP and
they said yep it wont as they dont support vista yet and no ISP's in
australia have usb drivers for ADSL modems as yet (according to iprimus). I
was told to use the LAN port to connect my modem up. So that works and I am
connected, but I cant get any web pages to load in Internet Explorer 7.
I get a 403 error message every time for all pages I try:
This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to
connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.

I am using standard settings.
Is this an easy fix?

Cheers, Scott.

Dear Scott

Until a more knowledgeable reader replies, I have two ideas

1) Try Tools, Internet Options, Security
Try 'Loosening security'.
Try adding trusted sites

2) Download another browser such as Mozilla \ Firefox

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

If you have the same problem then could it a router / firewall setting?

Don't know how much help this will be but my first guess would be some IPv6
incompatiblilites with your DSL. Try disabling IPv6 for that interface.

Secondly, run ipconfig from a dos prompt and point your browswer to the
gateway address. usually http://192.168.1.1 or something. This should be
the web interface for your router/modem and you may discover your problem
there.

FWIW IMHO LAN connections are always better then USB. The fewer drivers,
software you load on windows the better. Otherwise the OS' rots!

Couple of pointers
1/ Is you ADSL modem also a router? if so have you configured to issue DHCP
addresses
2/ can you ping any internet servers (ie www.yahoo.com) ?
