IE7 constantly restarting in Vista

Clean install on two (less than a year old) notebooks....one Toshiba...one
Acer. Both run Vista great.

IE7 at various times will tell me it stopped or crashed or whatever and then
restart....back to you home page.

It is so bad.......that out of desperation I have installed Fire Fox.....and
its not so bad after all.

Long shot but the following article may be worth a look:

(911860) Internet Explorer no longer works
correctly when you use a very long name in
the Internet Explorer Favorites folder on a
Windows Vista-based computer

Not the problem.

Example I was on Intel's web site trying to download a NIC driver for a new
motherboard (DG965WH) when I click on the link......."IE had a problem
restarting".

The worst part is, it goes back to my home page. FF works fine for now.

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971
Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Hi,
Some possibilities...
* Are you current on Windows / IE updates?
* Clear the Temporary Internet Files and set the size of the TIF folder to
less that 100 MB
* You may have an incompatible browser add-on.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to see if one of them is causing the
problem. Any program that interacts with Internet Explorer could be causing
this. The connection with IE may not be obvious, such as Google Desktop.

A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on
the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite during testing.

Hope this helps,
Don

I'm guessing that it's Adobe Flash. That plug-in is unfortunately nearly
necessary to browse the web, but it is incredibly buggy (it'll either
throttle the CPU or crash the browser). The good news is that version 9.60
is in beta, but the bad news is that the last two versions have sucked, so
do you trust Adobe to finally figure it out?
