IE6 with XP SP2 not displaying .php files correctly

My web hosting supplier now allows php, so I've started changing the (bridge
club's) website. I currently use PP Wizard to load include files, which
have to be done locally and the "created" files uploaded. A small test
shows that php works fine on the host, but I use "local host" for checking
out updates (results, news etc) prior to uploading and the php files are not
processed. Is there a switch or some additional software required so that
the pages will be displayed correctly (http://localhost/index.php/) on my
PC?

You will need to install the PHP server extensions onto what ever http
server you are using.

Just Googled for PHP server extensions, most promising results refer to MS
FrontPage extensions, is there another source? I am using IIS/Personal Web
Manager, in XP, using my PC as the http server for testing prior to
uploading to the (Easyspace) host (where the .php works OK).
