IE6 will not work tried everything! Twice

A Dell laptop XPsp2 home, infected with Trojans now totally clean. Click on
IE icon the hour glass appears for about 10 seconds but nothing happens.
I've tried the *icon fix* linked in this NG I've tried reinstalling it,
registering all the recommended *.dll. Removed SP2 run sfc/scanow,
Reinstalling IE6 again! and finally performed an in-places upgrade
(reinstallation) of windows XPsp1. Nothing works Internet access is possible
by typing a url in to the address bar of explorer etc but it is not possible
to minimise the window it simply shuts IE6 down.

Any suggestions welcome.

How have you determined that the machine is "totally clean"?

This is just my trying to narrow down what might be wrong, not a fix.

Go to Start / Run and type IEXPLORE.EXE. See if that opens internet
explorer. If not, restart your computer in safe mode and try to open
Internet Explorer in safe mode without the internet connected.

After trying those, report what happened as a result.

Edit: While in safe mode run a new virus scan as well. Update your
Antivirus software before restarting in safe mode.

All fixed HiJackThis found 4 BHO entries all now works thanks.
