IE6 will not browse web

I am connected to a lan with a DSL connection, I know my connection is active
because I can view my other computers on the network, but when I try to
browse the web it keeps coming up page can not display, the other thing is,
my other applications are not connecting to the web (yahoo chat, ETC...) I
have tried resetting all the IE6 back to defaults and nothing works. I also
had to re load XP SP2 due to currupt files in the system. I am at a lost for
words.

Hi,
Try powering down the DSL modem for about 5 minutes. Have you reset (powered
down) the router?

Just because you can tell you are connected to your LAN
does not mean that you have a connection to the Internet.

Switch to a cmd window and enter:

ipconfig /all

Do you have DNS addresses? If not that would explain your symptom.
Let's call the two addresses <dns1> and <dns2>. Then enter:

nslookup <dns2> <dns1>

and

nslookup <dns1> <dns2>

IOW enter with both DNS IP addresses as operands for the command.
They may not necessarily have names to return as reverse lookups
but they should not timeout, for example.

BTW this may not be the best newsgroup to assist with this kind of
diagnosis. E.g. a newsgroup specializing in networking for your OS
might have better suggestions. Try the following troubleshooter.
It provides a link to such a newsgroup if you need more help:

Good luck
