IE6 SP1 broken on my machine? can't applyu Q810847

S

Stephen Alpert

I have a Dell laptop delivered 4/03 running XP Pro. IE6 shows

version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633

Patches shows: (note lead semicolon)

version:;SP1;... and Qs: 328970,324929,813489,330994,818529,822925,828750

When I try to install the patch Q810847, it complains that I have to install SP1
first (but it's there?). If I try to run SP1 from the Oct'03 (?) MSDN, it says
that I already have a newer one installed!

bottom line: I really want to get to Q813951 which requires Q810847 as a
prereq.

help!

That is MS's way of telling you that 828750 contains the previous IE
patches.

So how do I install Q813951 then?

You don't need to. It's included in what you have.
BTW, there's a new patch at Windows Update today.

However, we see different behavior on two machines - mine doesn't list these two
patches and the other one does!
