IE6 search from address bar

I used to be able to search from my address bar now all of
a sudden I can't. I went into tools/options/advanced
under search it says "Just display the results in the main
window"

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From

I went to the symantec site and did the ghost trojan
removal...restarted machine still same problem.

Open the Search pane in IE. Click Customize. Click Autosearch
settings. Pick a different provider. Close. Reopen and pick your
original provider (if that's who you want to use). See if it works now.
I had Google Toolbar installed, uninstalled it, search didn't work
anymore from the Address bar, found Google sites was still selected for
autosearch, changed to MSN and it started working. When I switched back
to Google sites, it still was working, so apparently just switching away
and back kick whatever in the butt to get back on track.
