IE6 inundated with popunder ads, sites for f**kportal

L Mehl

Hello --

Are there settings or patches that block popunder ads?

Site for f**portal and other porn sites seem to be embedded in my system.

Thinking that I should remove IE6 and install a fresh download did not work.
Add/remove for IE6 only lets me "Repair", not remove the program.

I have run SpySweeper, SpyBot, AdAware and the problem remains.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Thanks,

Larry Mehl

A lot of antivirus programs now find spyware/malware programs embedded in
your system. Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition does a really good job of
keeping your system clean.

See if your antivirus program does that.

Also, I don't recommend removing IE6 uless you ant to re-install the system.
I've tried it and its no fun.

Hi,
If your computer is infected with malware, and it sounds like it is,
reinstalling IE won't help. There will be malware files in other
directories, such as Windows. Also, the best, most current programs can't
remove all forms of malware.
Post a HijackThis log for analysis. Start at

http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through the preliminary cleaning
steps then post a HijackThis log to the forum at

Hope this helps,
Don

I think you're right. Although I can't remember if it was a directive or a
recommendation. It didn't seem to have too much of an impact since without
IE you don't have a system.

I just looked at the symantec web site you referenced and it was
interesting. Is that what you were experiencing?
