Everytime I try to connect I keep getting Illegal
Operation message

I can't help with your Win 98 problem, but I can suggest
that you get to your email through its webmail
availability rather than through your POP server. Most
ISP's now maintain a way for you to access your email from
any computer by going on the net and going to their
webmail address.
