IE6 Encoding problem

When I view some web pages the buttons don't appera. Only
the text and a red "x". So i check the View - Encoding
drop down box and Auto Select is enabled but it then
switches between Western Eurpopean (ISO) and Western
Eurpoean (Windows) but neither seems to stay so I can view
the page properly. Ever run into this?

I've seen/got the same problem with a client of mine and
am looking for the same solution you are. If you get
one, please let me know.

I change the setting to the (Windows) encoding and then
am able to see the pictures for that site, until I
close/reopen the browser to that site next time, then the
red x's are back.

If I find out anything, I'll pass it on.

Makes sure that the necessary .nsl files are available and that your
registry setting is correct as per this article.

Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer
A Web page may display an image as a red X, or a placeholder may appear in
place of the image.
Covers also this problem: Web page that is encoded for the Western European
(ISO) code page might not display any images:
