IE6 crashes whenever I try to log in to web sites w/ username and password

Hi,

If anyone has ideas with the following issue, please let me know. I am
going insane trying to get IE6 to work as it always has (until
recently).

When I open IE and access any web site requiring a me to sign in, IE
crashes after I submit my username and password. This happens, for
example, when I try to log in to Ebay.com or mail.yahoo.com. I get to
the site, enter my username and password info, and after a second I
get the IE Error Reporting dialogue and it shuts down (and restarts
the browser if I leave that option checked).

I recently ran both SpyBot and AdAware to kill spyware, and now both
programs (when fully equipped with the latest updates) find nothing. I
have also run several virus scans by various vendors and cleared my PC
of a few viruses. Nothing suspicious is found now after scanning
maniacally over the last few days, with the latest updates for all
virus protection used.

However, IE6 now gives me the problem described above. I have
reinstalled IE6 and my PC (running Windows98 SE) has all critical
updates installed.

I am using Netscape 7.1 now without any issues with logging in to the
sites I mentioned above, but I need IE to work. Anyone else having
this issue with IE6 (the latest version available)? If so, has anyone
fixed the issue and, if so, how?

I ran msconfig and don't see anything suspicious, but I also don't
know exactly what to look for in reference to the symptoms I'm having.
If anyone knows what virus/spyware/shit may be causing the problem,
letting me know what to look for would be greatly appreciated.

Please reply here or email me at (remove obvious "no spam" elements in
the address) :

Thanks!
