IE6 and Outlook Web Access Problem

IE bombs when accessing our "mail.<domainname>.com/exchange" address
(redircted to an https page) for OWA. Only happens on this one laptop. Get
an "Explorer has encountered a problem..." error several seconds after
accessing the page but before attempting to login. If I'm quick, I can gt to
another site/page before it bombs. If I "send error report", it comes back
"Error caused by add-ons to Internet Explorer: turn off add-ons". Tried
turning off all of them... same issue and response.

Error report contains: AppName: iexplore.exe; AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180;
ModName: unknown; ModVer: 0.0.0.0; Offset: 00000000

PC is XP Home SP2 with all updates on an Acer Aspire 3000 with AMD Sempron
connecting to Exchange on a Small Business Server 2003 with SP2 for exchange
server.

What works: if I "delete files" in Internet Options, then go to the OWA
page- works fine once. I log in, get mail, log out and it returns to the OWA
logon page. The problem immediately returns.

Tried: ran sfc /scannow: no issues. Changed "IsInstalled" value for IE to
"0" and ran IE6SETUP.exe. It ran pretty quick... no change in problem. Ran
Windows update- no change. Checked for viruses and spy/adware.

Would rather not reinstall XP if I can avoid. Might try a repair. PC was
new/fresh when it was deployed 4mos ago and is hardly used by the user.

TIA

Nevertheless, the most likely explanation for this symptom is (faulty)
interference from third-party modules.

ModName: unknown; ModVer: 0.0.0.0; Offset: 00000000

This probably represents a wild branch instead of a valid call.
You could get more clues from the Stack Back Trace of the
failing task (e.g. look for FAULT -> in drwtsn32.log and scroll ahead).

That's a good clue. To exploit it I would use FileMon, perhaps tracing
only accesses containing the string Temp or even better but perhaps
potentially overwhelming just capturing anything associated with iexplore

Unless you have a repair CD which is specifically designed for XPsp2
I wouldn't (personal experience using repair without adequate preparation
or backup.)
