IE won't connect without typing URL

I' having a problem with IE 6.0. I click on the IE icon on
my desktop or I'll type in the URL in the address bar, the
page will open, I'll click on a link, a new window opens
but nothing. Any link I click on, I get the same results.

I've scanned and removed suspicious files, I've uninstalled
previous updates to IE...still not working.

I cant find the uninstall to remove IE completly.

I installed Netscape 7.0 and ever it works fine.

ps. just to add to my frustration...after reading some of
the issues in this newsgroup and deciding to ask for some
help...I tried clicking on the button that said "New Post"
and nothing happened....the window poped up but would'nt
load...I had to use my Netscape browser to go MS toi send this!
