IE window position in XP SP2

Robert Perry

I've noticed that ever since I installed XP SP2,
consecutively opened IE windows stack themselves
horizontally shifted to the right by a length
approximately equal to the width of the title bar icon.
Presumably this behaviour is intended to prevent each
window from obscuring the next; however, I find it
extremely annoying. I would like for each window to open
in the same place regardless of whether it obscures a
previous window. I want the old behaviour back.

Can anyone offer a solution?

Thanks, but nothing on that page addresses the issue I described. The issue
has nothing to do with corrupt registry values. Clearing the
"Window_Placement" data has no effect on consecutively opened windows. The
windows still stack in staggered formation from left to right.

I believe this behavior is a change brought about by SP2. It started
immediately after I installed SP2 on two different computers.

If someone else has a solution, please post.
