IE Stops After 5 -10 Minutes

This is a strange problem. When I first boot my Win XP PC, connected to the
internet via cable, and start IE the program loads and works fine for about 5
– 10 minutes. Then all of a sudden I will click on a webpage and the message
“This page cannot be displayed“ will appear. This message will then continue
to be displayed for any other webpage I try to open until I reboot the PC. I
have run “ipconfig†both when IE was working and after it stopped working.
The readings are the same. I have moved the PC to a different home also using
the same cable ISP provider and the problem persists. Ironically Outlook
Express works, even during the periods when IE has stopped working. I ran a
complete virus scan and no viruses were found.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.
