Hello,
I have a brand new install of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (with all other updates installed). The pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer works fine. However, when I enable the "Use automatic configuration script" option in Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings, the pop-up blocker quits working, regardless of the security level it is in. The instant I disable the PAC (proxy automatic configuration, as originally called by Netscape), the pop-up blocker works again. I really doubt this is by design. Is this a bug nobody has seen yet? Any insights?
By the way, the PAC file address is:
file://C:/Documents and Settings/Roberto/My Documents/Web Filters.pac
The PAC works fine because it filters ads as I intend it to be. The same PAC also works perfectly with Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera... so I know the PAC file is not an issue. I know I could use the Google Toolbar for pop-up blocking but I really prefer to get the IE pop-up blocker working since many friends use my PAC file also.
Thanks,
Roberto
