IE Script Error

Running IE 6.0 SP2 which came with Win XP SP2. I've been receiving an ''IE
Scripts Error'' message when I try to use a program which used to operate
correctly. Here's what the actual message says:
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 142
Char: 21
Error: Access Denied
Code: 0
URL: file://C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Print Template.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

(No matter which answer to the above question I choose nothing happens)

The software is a separate install from the printer driver. I have
uninstalled and re-installed the software twice with no luck. The program
is called Canon Easy-Web Print.

I've emailed Canon and they told me to re-install the program also. I
responded letting them know I did that with no luck. I'm awaiting the next
response from Canon.

I have exactly the same problem and it just started. I have downloaded
the software and installed it twice and nothing happens. Any ideas.

I have the same problem. This is what I wrote in the microsoft
newsgroups yesterday.

After running the 4/11/06 Windows updates from Microsoft I can no
longer use my Canon Easy-Webprint for Internet Explorer.

After hitting preview or trying to print I am getting this:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 142

Char: 21

Error: Access is denied

Code: 0

URL: File://C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Print Template.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Then I hit YES.

Then I get another error:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 231

Char: 1

Error: Object doesn't support this property or method

Code: 0

URL: File://C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Print Template.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Then I hit YES.

Then my only real option is to hit CLOSE to close the window.

Anyone else getting this? I uninstalled the program, rebooted,
reinstalled the program, rebooted, and even reset all IE settings. I
am still getting the errors. Disabling Norton Internet Security and
Norton Anti-Virus has no effect.

Now that you've mentioned it, my problem started AFTER installing those
Microsoft updates of 4/11/06. I receive the same error message as you do:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 142

Char: 21

Error: Access is denied

Code: 0

URL: File://C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Print Template.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Rollback the latest WindowsUpdate KB 912812 (IE culmulative update) -
then easy-webprint runs again.. . Hopefully MS or canon will get a fix
to this soon so we can get IE save again AND user easy-webprint...

In System Restore my updates from 4/11/06 (when this happened) are simply
listed as Software Distribution Service 2.0. Also in Add/Remove they are
not listed. I would have to rollback ALL the updates from 4/11/06 and this
was a multiple update that day.

I deleted WindowsUpdate KB 912812 (add/remove) and Easy Webprint is
back and running correctly. Thanks

I have the same problem. Thanks for the tip, but what are the chances of
getting a fix from Canon? Microsoft probably won't issue a fix for a
specific product. In the meantime we are less secure.

I've emaild Canon to inform them about this issue. Perhaps if more people
sent Canon emails telling them that Microsoft's Cumulative Update, KB912812
of 4/11/06, causes Easy-Web Print to stop working with the script error we
received, then hopefully they will address the problem.
