IE icons question

It seems my Internet Explorer does not show the custom icons in the Favorites
area. It only shows the generic "e" symbol. Is there some way to enable or
turn-on the small icons in the Favorites pane?

Those icons come from the website you visit. They are stored in the
Temporary Internet Files folder. If you clean out this folder you lose the
icons.

Those icons are called "Favicons" and are kept in your Temporary
Internet Files. As the TIF is cleared (which it should be
periodically), the special icons disappear. Here are links with a way
to keep them:

favourite icons (line 108, right column)

I must not be on the same page here, but if I'm reading Steve correctly, mine
did the same thing the other day for no good reason and I think the icons
went back to normal with a simple restart.
To add something while I'm here, I use a small free program called XPscrub
which clears your temps, cookies, history, recent documents, recycle bin and
more with one click and I use it often. It never removes anything in my
favorites, in fact, deleting my temp. internet files and cleaning every thing
up would be an option if restarting the machine didn't work. It's worth a try
anyway. Also if it just happened you could try a system restore. Sometimes
it fixs things when nothing else will.

Richard,
This makes sense as to why my work computer has all the "Flavicons" and my
home computer does not. There are some other posts that seem to identify
programs that will let you keep the Flavicons and continue to purge the
Temporary Internet Files. I haven't tried them yet, but they sound like a
good idea.
Thanks,

Bob,
This makes sense. There were a couple of other posts that also clued me in
(to this seemingly simple fact). I'll try the progam you identified.
Thanks,
Steve G.
