I set Yahoo as my IE start up home page. A bug resets my
home page to www.search.com/w/ every time I load my
personal settings. (Windows XP with multiple users).

How do I get rid of this company and their web site?

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

This will remove malware from the PC. Now, reset your homepage settings.

Brian,
search.com = CNet (they are not a hijacker)
Did you or one of your users, select: "Make CNet my homepage"?
Or install their Toolbar? ........

Is it www.searchv.com/w? If it is then get HijackThis:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Unzip and double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan"
and follow this advice:
