IE fails to locate server after computer has been idle for a few h

This problem has only been occuring for a few months, probably after some
windows update. Used to be that I could leave my computer idle and on for
days, show up, log on and viola, I am on the net...Now, I might as well turn
off because it usually requires a reboot to get back on the net or even
download mail from my pop server. I have a cable connection and my Dell is
only a year old running XP home, SP2 and IE 6. Sometimes if I leave a IE
window open, I can come back after a while and begin surfing. I am cornfused?

Go into device manager and check the settings on the Power Management
Tab. Untic the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save
power" setting.
