IE crashing

I am running IE6 SP1 and am having problems. Most of my
favourites will work fine. However, whenever I go to
Yahoo Finance to check my stock prices, Internet Explorer
crashes. My other links are working for the most part.
My Anti-Virus is up to date, so I don't think it is a
virus. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

i have some assumptions, just check it: first take a closer look, whether
the invoked site
contains any activex object references that will be accessed from your
internet explorer.
if some controls do not work properly you have to fix it, hower it can be
fixed (reinstall, reregister etc.)
or just delete the refrence to the site and create a new one and try to
access your stock
prices again.

if nothing works, try to remove the service pack (if possible) and reinstall
it.
this solves many problems at once in many conditions.

I just tried to access IE this morning and I find it is
crashing at other sites as well now, including those on
Yahoo Finance. I tried to reboot the PC and now my
Startup Items including LiveUpdate and Spy Sweeper are not
loading.

Is this a virus at work?

Hi,

what did you do, before your pc started that kind of actions?
There is always a posibillity for viral infections...
But think about your last action before all that happened...

The same thing was happening to me, a lot of IE crashing.
I finally found the problem. I had bad RAM at about 815-
840MB, on the second 512 stick. I found this out by
running: "memtest86", a free download. Then I fixed it
with "Run: msconfig, and then BOOT.INI, ADvanced, and then
set MAX/MEM at 815, thereby blocking off anything above
815MB. Then I rebooted. Since then I've had no problem
with crashes. Maybe it will help you.
