IE 6 is closing without warning and an error beep being
played. I am running winXP Pro. It is really strange
because the cause seems to be when i try to visit
yellowpages.com.au or whitepages.com.au (i am in
australia). It closes on me when i type these addresses
in the address bar but before i can even hit the enter
key. it also does it when i try to visit these sites via
other australian websites. i have also experienced the
problem at other times but wasn't able to narrow it
down. it also occured when i typed the mentioned
addresses into the search field of the microsoft
knowledge base.
.
Brad, I have been having the same trouble. I am running
winXP Home. Even if i just type the word pages by itself
in the address bar, it shuts down on the S. However, it
does occasionally let me through if I remove the http line
and type www.[As in pages party hire.] This does not allow
access to White or Yellow pages though.
.
Brad, I am having the same problem but with accessing my
online banking site (ezybanking) can get the page up that
lets me type in id and password, then message
is "retrieving your details" then browser closes! Several
other sites - Cartoon network and gamedude.com.au - same
thing happens! click on the links and the browser shuts
without any warning. Everything else is fine. We too are
running XP home and IE 6 with all updates etc. Is very
frustrating and cannot get help anywhere! If any
microsoft dudes read this, PLEASE HELP! I am so over
phone banking!

well i'm glad i'm not the only one experiencing this problem (sort of). I
must admit that it is the most bizarre thing i have ever seen happen while
using internet explorer. I think we can narrow it down to the word "pages".
Just tried typing "pages.com" by itself in IE and you guessed
it................closed on me. I have noticed that both you guys are also
in australia so maybe it is some conspiracy against us aussies (probably
done by new zealanders). i have run a virus scan and nothing has come up
infected. if it is a virus then it certainly is a good one because it got
through my firewall. please keep me posted on your progressions, possible
solutions. i may try a re-install of IE6.
