IE closing down all the time

Daniel

Hi,
I have been having a problem the last week or so with Internet Explorer
shutting down, and displaying the message box that says -
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience.

I just update my Windows XP to the service pack 2 today, and I am still
having the problem. I have a eMachines computer - 2.4 Ghz with 1 Gig of
memory and of course using IE v6. I did recently also update to the Norton
SystemWorks 2005. Anything I can do to correct this problem in the IE
program. I have sent the error report to Microsoft, but who knows what
happens with that info...

Thanks,

Dan

The problem pre-dates the install of SP2?

1. Uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove Programs and reboot.

2. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis
log to an appropriate forum.

Check for Hijackware

When all else fails, HijackThis (http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip)
is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware.

**Post your HijackThis log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30 or
other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**

3. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean bill
of health.

Hi,
YES.....The problem predates SP2. I installed SP2 thinking it might help
some - Silly Me :) All SP2 has done is slowed my computer down to a crawl.

Thanks,
Dan

No, with SP2 installed, the infection has slowed your computer down to a
crawl. <w>
