IE Closes out when attempting to open link in email

I am running IE and OE v6, since yesterday has developed an issue when
attempting to open a link from an email in OE. When I click on the link, a
new window begins to open to display the page, then I keep getting an error
message to "report this problem to Microsoft" and IE closes.

The error message details include:
Exception file
Code 0xc000001e
Flags 0x00000000

My Windows XP is regularly and automatically updating itself and wonder if
there was a recent update that is now causing this problem.

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks Jon. I tried that, but I'm still having the problem within OE when I
try to connect using a link within the in the email.

Hi,
Is IE6 the default browser? Check that at Control Panel> Add or remove
programs> Set program access and defaults.

See: "If you get a blank page:" at http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm
Then try "If nothing happens" (same page.)

[XP SP2] From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable non-microsoft add-ons to
see if one of them is the culprit.
[Non SP2] Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third-party browser
extensions." If either of these helps, you still need to find the
troublesome program, BHO or add-on.

Toolbar Cop from http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Toolkit.htm can help identify
and remove add-ons, BHOs, etc.

Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

* Important... Turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security
Center) before disabling a third-party firewall.

Hope this helps,
Don
