IE browsing slow due to Norton Internet Security Firewall

Has anyone had any experience with Internet Explorer
browsing slowly when Norton Internet Security Firewall is
enabled? My system browses really well until I enable the
Firewall!
I am using Windows XP, Norton Internet Security 2002, IE
6.0. The system has 512MB of RAM. I have noticed that
when the Firewall is enabled, Norton Internet Security
really pulls on system resources.
Thanks! ~ Kathy

I am having the same problem although it just started a
week or so back. I have been running NIS on my Windows 2K
machine with no problems, then my broadband connection
turned into a 2400 baud dial up. I have tried rolling back
the windows updates, scanning for viruses and spyware.
Nothing seems to do the trick but turning off NIS.
I looked on Norton's site and didn't find any help there
either. I think I just need to get a different firewall.

norton is a bit of pull on resources but should not slow
the system that much.
first scan for spyware
ad-aware lavasoftusa.com
spybot safer-networking.org
update both before scan
and scan your system for virus /trojan. after manually
updating norton.
and check your firewall settings and that they are on at
least recommended. and of course sometimes an update of
norton will cause small slownes that gets resolved by the
next update.update daily.

Thank you for your reply.
I had already done most of what you have suggested to no
avail. I'll have to take a look at the firewall settings
to see if I can reduce them at all while keeping the
system secure.
It's funny you mention the update perhaps causing an
issue because things were working fine and then all or a
sudden . . . I was thinking perhaps due to an update.

If anyone else has any other feedback, I'd love to hear
it.
