IE Browser Hijacked by "nav.startnow.com"

anytime i put the name of any website into the address bar on IE the browser
takes me to the "nav.startnow.com" website, regardless of the site that i am
attempting to reach, for example "google". however, if i enter the website
name in the following format: "http://google.com" the IE browser will take me
to the Google site. I have tried deleting the "nav.startnow.com" address
using "Tools", "Internet Options", "Home Page" and "apply" and "ok", but when
i attempt to put any site into the address bar without the "http://" prefix
the browser takes me back to the "nav.startnow.com" website. Can anyone help
me get rid of this irritating browser hijacker site, or can anyone mount an
attack against the "nav.startnow.com" website so that it is brought to its
knees for these despicable browser hijacker activities? thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.
