Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. I don't have Morpheus or any of the software
mentioned on this website. What is causing this problem?

Thanks,
Char

Hi ... had similar problem for past few weeks. Start
CLICKING on that "Details" link and document the
application, version and file that the Error Msg is
reporting. In my case it was IE.exe, ver. 6.0.28+,
msvcrt.dll in each case. I ensured my caches were
cleared, deleted cookies, ran spyware cleaning software,
ensured my HD was clear of viruses, etc.

I was not getting any help from an MVP in this newsgroup,
so I paid MS the $35 for incident tech support. I
HEARTILY recommend this option when all else fails. I
learned my problem was a corrupt msvcrt.dll file. This is
what the Error Msg was trying to tell me. By extracting
the CORRECT VERSION replacement msvcrt.dll from my Windows
Update Setup Files folder that is resident on my HD, my
IE "closing" problems went away.

Here is a brief excerpt from my resolution report for my
files:

......
Following is a summary of the key points for your records.

Action:Working with Internet Explorer
Result:
Error:
App Name: IExplore.exe
App Ver : 6.0.2800.1106
Mod Name: msvcrt.dll
Mod Ver : 6.18.293.0
Cause:Corrupt file msvcrt.dll
Resolution:Extracted the file msvcrt.dll from
c:\windows\windows update setup
files folder
......
Your problem may not be EXACTLY the same, but it may be
similar enough for you to try another option at resolution.
If you are an improving novice, as I, I suggest you seek
COMPETENT tech support and pay the $35. If your software
is still in the warranty period, it may not cost you
anything. At least the Tech will guide you through a
troubleshooting session that you can employ on future
problems. That, alone, is worth the $35.

Good Luck!
Pamela
